Abstract

381,504. Machines for working land. FOWLER & CO. (LEEDS), Ltd., J., Steam Plough. & Locomotive Works, and HASSON, P. R., 13, Leathley Road, Hunslet, both in Leeds. May 4, 1932, No. 12855. [Class 6 (i).] A self-propelled tilling-machine comprises two independent concentric circular structures carrying the tilling-tools and driven at prearranged speeds, in opposite directions about a vertical axis, by bevel change gearing connecting them with a horizontal power shaft. The two circular structures d, e are carried by a frame a pivotally connected to a power unit b. They may carry tines d<1>, e<1> provided with renewable shares. The power unit b has two or more travelling speeds and the independently driven power shaft g for driving the structures d, e also has two or more speeds. The member d is attached to a vertical shaft f mounted in a gear-box c and driven from the jointed power shaft g by bevel gearing f<3>, g<1>. The member e is carried by a sleeve driven from the shaft g by bevel gearing e<2>, g<4>. The gearbox c is provided with a removable cover c<1> to allow of the gearing being renewed or changed. The tilling-apparatus may be raised by power by winding a rope or cord h on a drum h<2>.
