Abstract

440,119. Machines for working land. HALDENBY, G. E., Elder House, Wroot, Doncaster. June 23, 1934, No. 18607. [Class 6 (i)] A cultivating machine comprises one or more pairs of discs rotatable about axes extending obliquely upwards and forwards and so arranged that the leading edges of the discs of a pair overlap, one or both of the discs of each pair being positively driven. The discs 8 may be mounted on a wheel-supported framework adapted to be drawn by horse, manual, or other power, and provided with a seat and tool-box. The discs of each pair are driven in opposite directions through telescopic and universally jointed shafts 15 and gearing 13, 14 from a shaft 12 driven from the wheels 3 by chain gearing 10. The bearing blocks of the discs are carried by braced stays 22 associated with a cross-bar 23, and may be lifted by means of guiding handles 25 and adjustably supported by chains 26. The discs may be flat or dished.
