Abstract

379,169. Driving gear. RUND, O. S., 2, Torsgate, Oslo, Norway. Dec. 2, 1931, No. 33377. [Class 7 (ii).] To vary the combustion space on change in load the piston 6 drives through a two-part connecting-rod 7, 18 and an arm 21, which is pivoted on a crank arm 22, 23. The position of this crank is adjusted by a piston 25 in a cataract cylinder 26. Oil is supplied by the engine-driven pump 28 to this cylinder and its outflow is controlled by a valve 32 ; this valve is held on its seat by a spring 36 acting through levers 35 on the piston top. The spring 36 and the oil in the cylinder act through the piston 25 as a variable abutment for adjusting and holding the arm 21.
