Abstract

378,871. Spray carburetters. CARBURATORI MEMINI SOC. ANON. ITALIANA, 16, Via Poliziano, Milan, Italy. April 14, 1931, No. 10518/32. Addition to and divided on 372,913, under which a Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, April 15, 1931. [Class 7 (iii).] In a carburetter for aircraft engines in which automatic control means are provided by which the fuel supply to the float chamber is cut off in the inverted position of the carburetter and the fuel supplied direct to the atomizing-jet, instead of having separate supply pipes for the float chamber and the atomizing-jet as described in the parent Specification, a single fuel supply pipe is provided which supplies the float chamber under normal conditions. The fuel is fed through passages 9a, 35 to a chamber 37 in which is a valve 23a which, according to the position of the aircraft, closes either the entrance of the fuel into a duct 10a leading to the float chamber 5a, or the entrance of fuel into a duct 19a from which it falls directly into a duct 42 leading to the nozzle 4a. Flooding of the float chamber during inverted running is prevented since the fuel falls directly from the duct 19a into the duct 42. In the latter case, a needle valve may control the flow of fuel in the duct 19a.
