Abstract
266,734. Soc. Anon. du Carburateur Viel. Feb. 26, 1926, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. Spray carburettors. - In carburettors having one or more main sprayers of the submerged type, and a slow-speed sprayer fed directly from the float chamber, means are provided to ensure a continuous and accurate supply of fuel from the slow-running condition until the main sprayer is fully in action. The float chamber C supplies a slow speed sprayer T, and a main sprayer A at the junction of conduits D, D<1>. The sprayer T discharges into a pipe E provided with a cock K and delivering mixture into the induction pipe above the throttle valve F of the thin metal disc type. A conduit 0 extends into the conduit D<1> to the normal fuel level and discharges into a conduit X provided with a calibrated aperture V and communicating with the induction pipe below the throttle valve F through an orifice S. This orifice comes into action as soon as the throttle is opened and remains in action, adding a calibrated amount of fuel, until the main sprayer A is delivering into the diffuser R. In place of a single orifice, two orifice!; S, S<1>, Fig. 4<a>, on opposite sides of the throttle spindle may be employed, in which case it is immaterial in which direction the throttle is opened. The orifice which remains below the throttle will serve as an air inlet to the conduit X. This modification permits of the throttle lever being located in the most convenient position, and of the carburettor being adapted for various engines. The Specification describes, with the aid of drawings, known devices for attempting to eliminate the gap between slow and normal running conditions.
