Abstract
377,369. Hydraulic shock-absorbers. BOOTH & CO., Ltd., S. and LEE, H., Cheapside Works, Cheapside, Birmingham. June 5, 1931, No. 16428. [Class 108 (iii).] In a self-closing tap or valve, a valve 22 for regulating the flow through the suction port 9f of a concussion-preventing dashpot 9 is adjusted by the rotation of the valve spindle 13 which is lowered for the initial opening of the main valve 14. The upper part of the valve 22 is angularly shaped and fits a recess in the piston 15. Rotation of the spindle 13 by the handle 19 or by applying a screwdriver to a slot in its head causes the cone-shaped part of the member 22 to be screwed into the bottom of the chamber 9 to cover the orifice 9f. Adjustment is also possible before the tap is fitted by the application of a key to the squared end 9e of the chamber 9 to screw it upon the valve 22.
