Abstract

165,486. Cammell, Laird, & Co., Ltd., Carter, Sir G. J., Murray, J. D., and Peacock, N. B. J. Jan. 21, 1920. Storm valves.-The discharge pipe outlet 1 in which the storm valve is fitted is provided at the back with a chamber 6 divided off from the interior of the discharge pipe, and in this chamber is housed. an extension 5<a> of the valve spindle 5 which extension is provided with a lever 7 acted upon by a screwed rod 11 working in a tubular stem 10<a> when it is desired to lock the valve. In a modification, the valve, ceat is inclined to the vertical instead of horizontal, and the chamber is located at the side of the discharge pipe. In both cases, the chamber is closed by a cover 10 which enables the valve and its seating to be withdrawn when necessary.
