265,797. Edwards, G. T., Griffin, T. S., and Blakeborough, R. A. March 11, 1926. Float valves. - A float-controlled rotary sleeve valve forming part of an appliance for venting air from water mains and the like comprises a conical sleeve d which is attached to an arm e carrying a float e<1> and which has ports d<3> arranged to register with ports c<3> in the discharge pipe c when the float is in its lowest positions. The ports c<3>, d<3> may be so shaped, as shown in Fig. 2, that the closing action of the sleeve diminishes proportionately with the rising of the float. Lateral adjustment of the sleeve may be effected by a screw g bearing against an abutment h on the sleeve, and the sleeve may be fixed after adjustment by lock-nuts h<1>. To prevent irregular action of the float, the vessel a may be provided with a baffle f having an opening f<1> through which the arm e extends.
