Abstract

318,422. Hardy, H. Oct. 31, 1928. Ball and float valves. - In float valves for cisterns &c. with a downward inflow stem 1 surrounded by a float 3, the valve is operated through radial levers 7 located above the float and connected between their ends to means such as a tube 6 extending downwardly alongside the stem to the closure member 5. The levers are fulcrummed on a plain flange or ring or on a screwed collar 11 adjustable on the elbow 2 and locked by a set-screw 12. At their outer ends, they may engage lugs 9 or studs &c. on the float member, which may be of inverted dish form, as shown, or wholly closed. Rotation of the float may be prevented by engagement of a projection thereon with a slot in the yoke 10. An extension 13 may be provided on the tube 6 to silenoe the flow. The device may be employed in conjunction with the flushing apparatus described in Specification 310,211.
