Abstract

373,303. Spinning hair and like yarns. CROSSLEY, N., 22, Queen Street, Huddersfield. March 4, 1931, No. 6650. [Classes 120 (ii) and 120 (iii).] Relates to a machine for making yarns or threads comprising rovings of a springy or elastic nature, e.g. hair, around which a binding yarn is wound. The binding yarn C is wound upon a tapered tube c<1>, placed upon a tapered sleeve E mounted upon the rotating tubular spindle A. The sleeve E is preferably permanently secured upon the spindle A by a spring ring e sprung into a groove el in the sleeve and engaging balls e2 which project through holes in the sleeve. The yarn carrier comprises an eyelet D fixed to or forming part of a ball or roller bearing detachably secured to the spindle. A second winding apparatus rotating in opposite direction to the first may be provided. According to the Provisional Specification, the rovings B may be kept together before being bound by a carrying thread.
