373,286. Fuel-injection pumps. AMALGAMATED CARBURETTERS, Ltd., BROWN, C., and COMERY, W., Holford Works, Holford Drive, Perry Bar, Birming- ham. Feb. 26, 1931, No. 6024. [Class 102 (i).] In a fuel-injection pump of the type in which release ports 13 in the plunger 2 are controlled by an axially-adjustable sleeve 15, the sleeve is adjusted by means of a slotted lever 24, which makes rolling contact with lugs 22 on the sleeve. The lever is fulcrumed on a ball 27 on an adjustable screw 28 and has a knife-edge 31 engaging a cam on a spindle 33, which may adjust several pumps simultaneously. Alternatively, the spindle 33 may be hollow and slotted to form operating-edges 34. The lugs 22 are engaged by knife-edges 43 on a washer 40, having knife-edges 41 at right-angles engaging a cup 39 acted on by a spring 35. The lugs 22 project through slots 21 in an enlargement 8 of the pump barrel, which is supported in a suction chamber 10 in the framing 9. The plunger is pressed into engagement with a crosshead 3 by a spring 45.
