Abstract

An aluminium alloy not requiring hardening by heat treatment, and suitable for example for internal-combustion engine pistons and piston rings consists of 77,5-91 per cent of aluminium, 6-12 per cent of copper, 1-3 per cent of nickel, ,05-5 per cent of chromium, and 0,5-2.5 per cent of magnesium. The alloy is preferably cast under pressure in water-cooled steel dies.
