Abstract
471,517. Cylinders. STOKES, A. J., BAILEY, R. W. HARVEY-, and SHEEPBRIDGE STOKES CENTRIFUGAL CASTINGS CO., Ltd. Feb. 5, 1936, Nos. 3494 and 13849. [Class 7 (ii)] [Also in Groups XXII and XXVI], A cylinder liner comprising two or more layers of metals having different properties disposed radially one within the other and integrally united is made by successive casting in a centrifugal mould. The surface metal may have desired wear and corrosion-resisting properties and the body metal have greater elasticity or strength or be merely cheaper. Bimetallic liners may be made from magnesium, aluminium or phosphor bronze or other non-ferrous alloy, carbon or alloy steel, which may be stainless austenitic, heat-resisting or suitable for nitrogen hardening, cast iron and alloy cast iron, which may be austenitic, heat or acid resisting or suitable for nitrogen hardening.
