Abstract

370,791. Oil engines ; cylinders. SULZER FR’RES SOC. ANON., Winterthur, Switzerland. Aug. 20, 1931, No. 23456. Convention date, Oct. 23, 1930. [Classes 7 (ii) and 7 (iii).] A liquid - cooled pre-combustion chamber e is secured in position by a surrounding thrust member o which bears on a rib formed on the outside of the chamber near its lower end, and forces the latter into fluidtight contact with a seating formed on the inner surface of the lower or inner wall of the cooling chamber c. The thrust member o is retained by long bolts k which are also secured to the inner wall of the cooling chamber, sliding fluidtight joints being provided in the outer wall of the cooling chamber to allow for the expansion of the member o and bolts k; a sliding and fluidtight joint is also provided to permit related longitudinal movement between the pre-combustion chamber and the thrust member. The fuel injector is bolted to the top of the pre-combustion chamber.
