370,678. Fuel-injection pumps. VAUDET, P. L., St. Sernin du Plain, Seineet-Loire, and GUITAUT, F. A., 200, Rue Croix-Nivert, Paris, both in France. April 30, 1931, No. 12807. Convention date, June 17, 1930. [Class 102 (i).] In a fuel-injection or other pump of the type in which the admission orifice e is controlled by the plunger, which is formed with an inclined surface h, Fig. 1, and is rotated to vary the time of closure of the admission .port, the surfaces are so arranged that the resultant thrust due to the liquid pressure is axial. For this purpose the piston may be formed with an extension forming an annular space k, the upper wall n of which is parallel to the wall h, the space k being connected to the pressure chamber by grooves l. The injection is terminated by means of a recess p, which communicates with the pressure chamber by a passage q. Alternatively, the end of the piston may be V-shaped, or formed as two oppositely inclined faces h<1>, h<2> on opposite sides of a diametral plane.
