367,336. Thermionic cathodes. LEDERER, A.,Hermesvilla, Vienna. Aug. 15, 1930, No. 24459. Convention date, Aug. 16, 1929. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 39 (i).] Thermionic cathodes having emissive layers of pure alkaline-earth metals or alloys are made by reducing alkaline-earth oxides by silicon or other agent. The oxides may be mixed with carbonates, formates, &c., or may be replaced by other reducible compounds. Barium oxide may be mixed with the equivalent amount, or with more or less than this amount, of powdered crystalline silicon, pressed into a tablet and heated to more than 1000‹ C. within the discharge tube to vaporize barium on to the cathode.
