[Class 38 (ii).] Relates to current transformers of the type in which the primary winding is in the form of a loop passing through a pair of insulating bushings, and consists in strengthening the bushings against mechanical forces caused by heavy currents by means of cross-ties c at points intermediate the normal points of support a, b. The cross-ties are made of metal and serve as equipotential surfaces for distributing the electrostatic field more uniformly over the surface of the insulator.
