385,334. Protective cut-out arrangements. INTERNATIONAL GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Inc., 120, Broadway, New York, U.S.A.-(Assignees of Allgemeine Elektricitõts-Ges.; 2, Friedrich Karl-Ufer, Berlin.) June 29, 1931, No. 18770. Convention date, June 28, 1930. [Class 38 (v).] In an earth-leakage protective system employing a neutral-point resistance and a series overcurrent or wattmeter relay, the setting of the relay is kept low by using an iron strip resistance of high positive temperaturecoefficient so that, with high neutral-point voltage, the current through the relay is lower than it otherwise would be. A suitable resistance is made in strip form of soft Siemens- Martin iron. To deal with momentary peak currents, the resistance may be connected in the secondary circuit of a transformer having a high voltage and its primary connected between the neutral point and earth. The secondary-may also serve to supply the voltage coil of the wattmeter relay.
