352,160. Two-level &c. taps. WHITTINGTON, R., (trading as WHITTINGTON & SONS, T.), 31, Sheepcote Street, Birming- ham. May 14, 1930, No. 14893. [Class 135.] Rotary cylindrical valves.-A single way, two way or two-level, or other rotary plug tap or cock comprises a plug having an inclined and/or stepped part which controls the inlet passage or passages. In the construction shown, the plug comprises a squared spindle 9, Fig. 3, with inclined endplate 11 and a cork sleeve 12, all secured in the tap &c. casing 1 by a spring ring 20 having an inturned end 22 entering the casing and engaging a groove in the collar 13. The application as a two-level petrol tap for motor vehicles is shown, the full and reserve supply inlets being indicated at 6, 8, Figs. 1 and 3, and the outlet at 2. The handle 14 has a pointer 15, and the casing is provided with index marks, as 26, showing the full, reserve, and all off positions ; the casing has two stops, as 17, locating the position in which one or other of the inlets 6, 8 is open. A modification is shown in which the outlet passage is inclined to the axis of the plug.
