[Class 135] A tap or faucet of the kind in which a ball valve e is displaceable from its seat f against which it is normally maintained by liquid pressure, has a T-shaped tubular casing a, a<2> of which the stem portion a<2> forms the valve outlet, and a cap b formed with a stem d which is moved inwardly to open the valve e on rotation of the cap b in one direction. The combined axial and rotational movement of the cap is effected by an inwardly-projecting stud inside the cap engaging a helical groove on the casing a. The stem d passes through a packing d<1>. The ball e is preferably of glass and the casing of material known under the Registered Trade Mark " Bakelite."
