[Class 116] Apparatus for dispensing any one of a numberof liquids, e.g. beverages, or a mixture of such liquids comprises a sight tube 10 mounted between washers 11 in a base ring 12 and a plate 15, respectively, the plate 15 being providedwith a number of steel or glass conduits 17 which communicate with the liquid supplies at their upper ends and are closed at their lower ends by valves 20 having stems 21 with heads 24 urged upwards by springs 25. A plate 28 carried by a sleeve 27 mounted on a spindle 26 screwed axially in the plate 15, is adapted to be rotated by a knob 34 so that a radial rib 29 on the plate 28 may be aligned with a selected valve-head 24, the plate being retained in the selected angular position by a spring-pressed ball 31 engaging one of a number of grooves 32 in the spindle 26. The selected valve is opened by depressing the plate 28 by a lever 38 acting through a yoke 36, the extent of movement of the lever being limited by a stop 44. The liquid flows past the selected valve into the chamber 10 which is vented by a pipe 50, the liquid being drawn off from the chamber 10 by way of a valve-controlled outlet communicating with the passage 48. The draw-off tap is described in Specification 423,360. In a modification, the lever 38 may be dispensed with, a knob being mounted on the spindle 26 and having pins engaging cam-slots in the sleeve 27 so that on turning the knob in one direction, the rib 29 on the plate 28 may be aligned with the required valve, whereas movement of the knob in the opposite direction causes the pins engaging in the cam slots to depress the plate 28 and so open the slected valve. The plate 28 may co-operate with a fixed pointer to indicate the name of the particular liquid selected.
