Abstract

352,156. Band brakes applied by driving-mechanism disengagers. ROCKSTROH, W., 3, Wissmannstrasse, Dresden, Germany. May 10, 1930, No. 14475. [Class 103 (i).] In combined clutch and brake drives adapted to effect powerful clutching and rapid emergency stoppage of heavy printing and embossing presses, the driving-flywheel (not shown) is coupled to the shaft 1 by a selftightening band-clutch 5. The brake-band 11, anchored at one end 12 to a fixed part, coacts with a drum (not shown) carried by one or more arms 9 on a shaft-member 8, and is expanded by a tangentially-moved rod 24 contacting with the free end 25 of the band. The rod 24 is coupled to the clutchlever 17, which has connections 14, 15, 16 to a sliding collar acting to expand the clutch-band 5.
