Abstract

A friction member for brake or clutch comprises a series of segments 12 linked together by torque-links 14 which also serve to transmit torque to the mounting 16 by interlocking with tongues 15 projecting therefrom. This arrangement allows a rocking movement of the segments on thermal distortion.
