Abstract

346,757. Luggage attachments. SMITH, W. B., Allcroft Works, Spring Road, Hall Green, Birmingham. Jan. 16, 1930, No. 1510. [Class 136 (i).] A luggage bag or satchel, suspended by straps from the back of the saddle or other convenient point of a bicycle, is anchored by means of a bracket hingedly connected to the bag, and adapted to be adjustably clamped to the back stay or other part of the bicycle frame. An attachment plate c, Fig. 2, is rigidly secured to the base of the bag and carries a hinge barrel c<5>, to which a stay d is connected by the arm d2. The limbs d<3 >of the stay are threaded to receive wing nuts e, e<2>, which, together with clamping plates f, f<2>, form the means for adjustably anchoring the bag to the frame of the cycle. The plates f, f<2> may be bent, as at f<3>, Fig. 4, to make room for the parts of the brake attachment when the bag is suspended from the back of the saddle, and the ends of the plates may be cranked inwardly so that they embrace the stay or back fork g. The device is suitable for use in connection with a bag of the type described in Specification 340,702, [Group XVII].
