Abstract
448,315. Saddle-bag attachments. SMITH, W. B., Allcroft Works, Spring Road, Hall Green, Birmingham. Oct. 4, 1935, No. 27387. [Class 136 (i)] In means for suspending a flexible carrier bag from the rear of a cycle saddle by straps &c., a rigid crossbar having bent ends is secured both to a flat top portion and to the opposite sides of the bag, so as to distribute the stresses, strengthen the attachment, and prevent deformation of the bag. A leather strengthening-strip 8 is sewn across the flat top portion 2 of the bag, and a rigid cross-bar 13 having bent ends 14 is secured to the top 2 over the strip 8, and to the opposite sides 5 of the bag, by rivets 15 fitted with leather &c. washers. Beads 17 at the bends of the bar 13 embrace the stitchedtogether edges of the bag, the ends of the strip 8, and strips binding together such edges and ends. The suspension straps 12 are passed through loops 10 on the strip 8, or through loops raised from the material of the bar 13. A pair of loops 19 attached to the bar 13 are adapted to receive straps for securing a waterproof cape &c. to the bag.
