Abstract
518,659. Bag fastenings. SMITH, W. B. Sept. 29, 1938, No. 28273. [Class 44] A fastening particularly for haversacks, cyclists' touring bags and the like comprises a strap 12 secured to the flap 2 of the bag and provided with perforations 13, and an attachment plate 3 with raised rigid loop 5 and stud 6 secured to the bag body 1. The plate is secured by a rivet 4 and by the inner reduced portion 7 of the stud which is riveted over a washer 9. A strengthening piece of leather 10 may be placed under the rivet 4 and washer 9. In use, the strap is passed through loop 5 and a selected aperture, 13 pressed over the stud. The cross-bar 5' of the loop 5 may be continuous as shown, or formed by inwardly-turned lugs which may or may not abut. The bag may be constructed as in Specification 463,772, [Group XVII].
