[Class 141] [Also in Group XXV] The effective length of the shoulder straps of braces and similar suspenders is adjusted by a sliding-clasp fastener or fasteners of the type in which the slider is adapted to be locked in any desired position. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the button tab or other fastener 27 is slidably secured to the looped portion of the shoulder strap 24, the front part 25a of the looped portion being slotted to receive the elements 30, 31, of the sliding-clasp fastening, and the end of the rear part 25b of the looped portion being secured to a slotted member 36 which is pivoted to the slider 32, the slider being adapted to be locked in any desired position by means of a detent 35 provided on the finger piece 34. In a modification, the elements of the sliding-clasp fastening are carried by a foundation piece which is sewn to the front face of the part 25a the slotted member 36 either sliding between the foundation piece and the part 25a or being arranged to embrace the foundation piece. In another modification, the foundation piece is sewn to the rear face of the part 25a. In a further modification, Figs. 16 and 17, the button tabs or other fasteners 27 are secured directly to the slotted member 36 which is pivoted to the slider 32 the elements. of the sliding-clasp fastening being mounted on a foundation piece 29 which is sewn to the rear face of the shoulder strap 24.
