Abstract

571,113. Sliding-clasp fastenings. WINTERHALTER, M. April 9, 1943, No. 5719. Convention date, Sept. 25. 1942. Addition to 570,862. [Class 44] The elements 24 of a sliding- clasp fastener are formed with jaws 24, the ends 25 having weaker cross-sections than those of the main portions of the jaws so that, when the ends 25 are secured to the beaded edge 21 of the carrier tape by a flanging operation, the main parts 24 are not stressed. The fastener elements are punched out from a metal band and then subjected to further treatment to obtain the desired shapes to the free ends of the jaws as by moulding to decrease the width of each leg relatively to the longitudinal central plane. but wider in the direction parallel to this plane. The shapes of the cross-sections of the parts 25 may vary, and each may be split to form two legs. End connection elements, coupling the end of two tapes, may be likewise attached to the tapes.
