Abstract

521,275. Sliding-clasp fastenings. MULKA, F. Nov. 10, 1938, No. 32748. [Class 44] A gas- and liquid-tight sliding-clasp fastener has a single-plate wedgeless slider acting on the outer ends of the fastener elements. In Figs. 1 and 2 the outer ends are shown of ball form 3 engaging a circular groove 2 in the side flanges of the plate slider 1. In Fig. 5 the plate slider is shown with side flanges formed with small heads 12 which engage in a channel-section, flexible band or chain 10 connecting the outer ends 11 of the elements. The fastener shown in these figures is of the form in which conical headed pins 4 extend through an elastic rib on the strip 6. Fig. 8 shows a form of fastener with the usual form of elements but with the elements on each strip connected by a band 17 of trapezoidal section engaging a correspondingly shaped groove in the plate slider. The slider and the fastener elements may be of whalebone or other non-metallic material.
