Abstract
524,035. Sliding-clasp fasteners. JACKSON, CO., Ltd., H. D., and WHITE, B. M. Jan. 20, 1939, No. 1974. [Class 44] The two parts a, b of the slider of a sliding- clasp fastener are riveted together near the mid-point of the length of the slider and the pull-tab is attached to a member which is freely rotatable on the slider, but not about an axis parallel to the main plane of the slider. As described, the parts a, b are stamped or moulded from metal or synthetic material, with flat outer surfaces, the inner faces having Y-shaped depressions c defined by raised portions d, e. The depressions register to form the guide channels for the fastener elements, the parts d forming the internal wedge member. The parts are secured together by rivet g passed through central apertures f, the rivet providing a pivot for a plate h. The tab k may be connected to plate h by chain or other flexible member, or, as shown, the plate may have oppositely disposed tongues j which are bent over to provide a loop on which the tab k is threaded.
