Abstract

818,204. Strap fastenings; catches, stud and socket fastenings. UNITED-CARR FASTENER CORPORATION. July 12,1957 [July 12, 1956], No. 22214/57. Class 44 A clasp adapted to be detachably secured to a strap, ribbon or the like comprises a strip of springy material folded over to form a pair of arms 14, 16 pivotable towards and away from each other about the fold 12, the free ends of the arms being formed with means permitting them to be releasably held, one of the arms having a flange 28 on at least one edge extending towards the other arm for clamping engagement with the strap, ribbon or the like when inserted between the arms. The holding means are formed by rolling over the free ends of each arm as indicated at 18 and 20 and bending back the rolled over portion 18 of the long arm 14 so that it forms a catch to hold the shorter arm. The long arm is also bowed inwardly as indicated at 24 to assist the holding action. The short arm is formed centrally with the stud member 26 of a stud and socket snap fastener.
