Abstract

145,997. Stevens, W. H. Aug. 5, 1919. Slides, belt and like.-A buckle of the kind in which the fabric is held between end bars on and tongue-pieces cut out of a flat frame, comprises end bars 16, 16<1>, side bars 15, a tongue 24, and a cross-bar 19 between two slots 17, 18 for the fixed attachment of one end of the strap &c. 20. The bar 16<1> between which and the tongue 24 the free end 28 of the strap &c. is gripped is disposed below and parallel to the tongue and general plane of the buckle to afford a wide opening for ready insertion of the strap. The bar 16 may be disposed above the plane of the buckle as shown or below it. The buckle may be made of celluloid or metal and the side bars 15 and tongue 24 are provided with longitudinal corrugations 27 to render them rigid. In the form shown in Fig. 5, the buckle has a central slot 29 and two tongues, the bars 16, 16<1> being both disposed below the tongues. Fig. 8 shows the buckle applied to suspenders.
