Abstract
169,076. Raymer Manufacturing Co., Ltd., and Raymer, O. L. July 29, 1920. Coupling and capping.-A buckle for straps or ropes comprises an outer rectangular frame 1 and an inner tongue member 6 having bevelled front bars 2, 7 respectively. The back bar 4 of the frame 1 has a slot 5 near its lower edge and has its inner face inclined away from the top at an angle greater than a right-angle the outer face of the back bar 9 of the tongue being oppositely inclined so that the tongue pivots about the upper edge of the bar 9 which has a slot 10 near its lower edge. One end of the strap is passed through the slots 5, 10 doubled back and stitched, the tension of the strap in use causing its free end to be gripped between the bevelled faces of the bars 2, 7. The tongue has a fingerpiece 17 for releasing, and the bar 4 is provided with a keeper loop 12. The form shown in Fig. 3 is adapted for fastening ropes. The front 13 of the outer frame is formed with a groove 14, and the apex 15 of the tongue is flattened to engage the rope. A gap as shown in dotted lines may be formed in the frame to allow the buckle to be placed on a rope the ends of which are secured.
