Description

L. P. VAISSET, CALLED VINCET.
SELF ACTING PRESSURE BUCKLE.
7 APPLICATION FILED MAR. 5. 1919. 1,361,647.
Patented Dec. 7, 1920.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
LOUIS PIERRE- VAISSET, CALLED VINCET, OF ROUEN, FRANCE.
Application filed March 5, 1919.
To all whom it may. concern:
Be it known that 1, Louis PIERRE VAISSET, called VINoE'r, a citizen of the Republic of France, and a resident of Rouen, France, have invented new and useful Improvements in or Relating to Self-Acting Pressure Buckles, of which the following is a specification.
This invention has for its object a self acting pressure buckle. Its chief characteristic lies in the suppression of the tongue which in buckles as hitherto constructed served to fix the belt or the like to which the buckle was attached.
It also prevents all perforations of the fabric which cause a rapid deterioration thereof dueto the number of holes formed, and further prevents the necessity .of prepared eyelets or holes, which do not always come in the required place in the case of leather belts and all parts of harness.
The accompanying drawings are given only by way of illustrating the invention.
Figure 1 is a perspective View of a belt buckle constructed and arranged in accordance with my invention.
Fig. 2 is an elevation of the same, in use.
Wly improved buckle comprises a member 3, an open frame 1, and a somewhat smaller open frame 5 which is arranged in the frame 1.
The frame 1 is the part of the buckle which is seen when the strap or belt is pulled tight. It is provided at the ends, at points midway between the sides, with laterally extending lugs 2, through holes in which pass the bent ends or arms of the metal bar 3 of suitable diameter to which is connected in the ordinary way the end 4 of the belt or strap.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 7, 1920.
Serial No. 280,770.
The bent ends of the metal bar 3 engage in holes which are formed in the top and bottom of the frame 5, so that the frames 1 and 5 swivel onthe ends of the part 3. Hence the said frames 1, 5, and the member 3, are pivoted together and have a common pivot axis which passes through the arms of the member, the lugs of the frame 1 and the center of the frame 5.
It will be understood that when the free end 43 of the belt or strap is passed into the buckle the frame 5 is arranged in relation to the other parts as shown in Fig. 1; then the free end 4: of the belt is passed under the left side of the frame 1, over the left side of the frame 5 and under the right side of the frame 1; by the pull exerted on the belt or strap the left side of the frame 5 is brought toward the left and tends to pass behind the rear face of the frame 1 so that the right side of the frame 5 presses the extremity 4 of the belt against the rear face of the right side of the frame 1 and the fixing of the belt is obtained.
What I claim as my invention and desire to protect by Letters Patent is A self fastening buckle comprising a member for attachment to one end of a strap and having a pair of spaced projecting arms, an open frame having laterally extending lugs at. its ends, midway between its sides, and a second open frame arranged in the first named open frame, said frames and said member being pivoted together and having a common pivot axis which passes through the arms of the member, the lugs of the first named frame and the-center of the second named frame. V
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
LOUIS PIERRE VAISSET, called VINCET.
