Be it known that l, WILLIAM El HATHE- WAY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Bridgeport, in the county of Fairfield and State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Web bing Clip. Hooks for Buckles; and 1 do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

My invention relates to means for anchoring *suspender buckles to webbing, and it consists in certain details of construction to be more fully set forth in the following specification.

Referring to the accompanying drawings wherein the same figures and letters of reference indicate like parts throughout the several views,

The blank 1 shown in Figure 1 is provided with the retaining claws or prongs 9,. Said blank, when bent into U-shape to form the clip hook will present the obverse leg or and the reverse leg 6. The buckle is of the ordinary construction comprising the underlying frame i and overlying lever 5. The clip hook having been properly attached to the end of the webbing, the buckle is advanced to bring its frame a between the inside face of the leg 6 and the reverse side of the webbing as shown in Figures 6, 7, and 8. Nhen the hook and frame of the buckle are thus secured, the webbing is brought around the buckle frame to form the attaching loop A. and returned under the buckle lever in the usual manner, as shown in Figure 8.

In the modified clip hook construction shown in Figure 9, the webbing is supposed to fill the space between the legs a, 7), and a portion of the floor comprising the leg 5 is broken down to form the leg 6 and the space between the legs 5, Z2 is for the reception of the buckle frame.

t is customary to pass the end of the webhing around the buckle frame and stitch said end to the main body of the webbing in rear of the frame. This arrangement not only adds to the cost of manufacture but it also adds an lditional thickness or fold of webbing at the buckle which is eliminated by the employment of the clip hook which requires no stitching and less webbing is needed.

Having thus described my invention what I claim is A V-shaped clip hook adapted to embrace the end of webbing, one leg thereof resting against the webbing and anchored thereto, the other leg free from contrct with the opposite side of the webbing and parallel ther with, a buckle having a frame slidably mounted on the webbing with the frame of the buckle interlocked between the free leg of the clip hook and webbing.
