Abstract

1,247,401. Kilts. RALLY-KLAD Ltd. 5 Feb., 1970 [13 March, 1969], No. 13263/69. Heading A3V. [Also in Division B8] A kit for making up into a kilt or kilted skirt comprises a kilt piece or skirt panel 10 in the form of a rectangular cloth length hemmed along one longitudinal edge 11 and transversely pleated over a portion of its length, a holder 12 to which the kilt piece or skirt panel is attached so as to retain the pleated configuration, and a waist band component 16 in the form of a narrow strip of cloth which can be connected to the unhemmed longitudinal edge of the kilt piece or skirt panel 10 to provide a waist band thereon. As shown, the kit also includes buckles 18, 19 and straps 20. The holder 12 which may be of cardboard, is formed as a pair of leaves 23, 24, and is provided with a hanger 27. The folded kilt piece or panel 10 is arranged with the unhemmed edge overlying the leaf 23, the waist band component 16 is folded and introduced between the folds of the folded piece or panel 10, the buckles 18, 19 and straps 20 are positioned to overlie the piece of panel 10 and the leaf is then folded down and secured with fasteners 29 which may be metal staples passing through the leaves 23, 24 and the parts disposed therebetween. Making up instructions may be printed on the inside of one of the leaves 23, 24 and the kit may be enclosed within a bag or envelope.
