Abstract
922,072. Sliding-clasp fasteners. G. DOELTER. July 7, 1959 [July 7, 1958], No. 21731/58. Class 44. In a sliding clasp fastener comprising a row of elements 12 secured to each of two tapes 10, 11 of flexible material to be joined together, each element has a root portion 15 for securing it to one of the tapes, a shank 14 and a head 13; the heads 13 of each row of elements fit between the shanks 14 of the other row of elements, when the tapes 10, 11 are joined together, to engage behind the heads 13 of the other row of elements and to overlie the root portions 15 of the latter, so as to preclude disengaging movement of the elements in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the tapes 10, 11 and to hold the latter against relative pivotal movement about a longitudinal axis. The shanks 14 are joggled so that the heads 13 and root portions 15 lie in parallel planes which are separated by the thickness of the material of the elements, and the root portions 15 are extended and bent to form channels 16 in which the edges 17 of the tapes 10, 11 are received, clamped and secured by rivets 18 to form at 22 a pressure-right seal between the tapes 10, 11.
