Abstract

411,488. Sliding - clasp fastenings. GRANT, H. B., 51, Crossway Lane, Perry Barr, Birmingham, and LIGHTNING FASTENERS, Ltd., Imperial Chemical House, Millbank, London. Dec. 8, 1932, No. 34849. [Class 44.] Strips 7 for covering the elements 2 of a fastening of the type in which fastener elements on two stringers are interengaged by a slider are thickened or otherwise raised at their edge adjacent the ends of the clamping legs of the fastener elements so that the strips lie flat on the elements under the action of the natural side pull on the stringers. The covering strip 7 may be raised by sewing a cord 9 in a fold of the strip, the stringer 1 being held back during such process ; or the strip 7 may be folded on itself to provide the required raising thickness at the edge and may be sewn or glued to the stringer instead of being clamped in the legs of the fastener elements. The strips may be of different material from the stringer tape and may be applied to both faces of the fastener.
