Abstract

624,334. Sliding clasp fasteners. LIGHTNING FASTENERS, Ltd:, (Lightning Fastener Co., Ltd.). July 3, 1947, No. 17547. [Class 44] In a sliding clasp fastener the bottom stop is adjustable to any position on the stringers below the slider and also allows complete separation of the stringers. The stop 24, shown part way along the stringers in Fig. 2 and in the lowest position in Fig. 3, comprises a bridge piece 30 uniting two spaced parallel flanged plates to embrace the fastener elements 20 which are of the symmetrical type. In its lowest position, Fig. 3, the stop receives two tubular stop members 34, 36 the former having an abutment 39 preventing the stop 24 leaving the stringer. The stringers may be completely separated when both the stop and slider 14 are in their lowest positions and in this position the slider is located by a tongue on the stop 24 engaging a recess in the slider. Strengthening strips 40 may be provided at the lower ends of the tapes.
