Abstract

1,077,986. Strip fastenings. LIGHTNING FASTENERS Ltd. Aug. 27, 1965 [Oct. 19, 1964], No. 36884/65. Heading E2S. A sliding clasp fastener comprises a pair of stringers each with a tape 1 with a series of interengaging coupling elements 3 and slider for coupling the elements, a separable con- necting device for two ends comprising a pin and a socket, and a reinforcement comprising ribs 6, 7 and a grid 5 moulded with the pin 4 integrally to the tape end which passes in a zig-zag path over and under each rib 6, 7 and between pairs of ribs 11, of the grid 5 positioned in opposed relationship. The thickness of the ribs 6 allows the tape to pass through the slider. The grid 5 has a greater thickness. In an alternative form the ribs 6 extend over the width of the tape. The reinforcement may be provided at one end of both tapes.
