[Class 44] A sliding-clasp fastener in which the elements are concealed beneath the stringer tapes 2 by being secured thereto in such manner that the tapes are doubled back over a clamping arm 4 which is so disposed as to cause the doubledback edges of the two stringers to abut, has elements of such form that the clamping arm 4 forms with the body 5 of the element a substantially circular opening to receive the beaded edge 2a of the tape; the elements are secured solely by bending down the clamping arm. The elements have a nose 6 extending under the beading of the opposite stringer whereby the elements are prevented from tilting sidewise on a transverse pull ; alternatively the elements may have co-operating lugs 14, Fig. 12, to prevent such tilting. The operating slider consists of a back plate with bent-over outer flanges to embrace the elements and a middle wedge-piece with a runner loop at the front to which the pull tab is attached ; the wedge is undercut to allow the noses 6 of the elements to pass. The stringers 2 may be covered by the edge portions 1 of the material to be joined.
