[Class 44.] In a sliding-clasp fastener of the kind in which the stringers are completely separable and in which the ends are stiffened by metal coverings 10, 12, guide channels for the slider are provided on the coverings to facilitate correct positioning when connecting the stringers, and to give initial separating movement when detaching them. Plate 10 is pressed up at 22, 23 to provide a guide channel 24, and plate 12 is pressed up at 20. Co-operation of the slider with the surface 23a of projection 23 gives an initial pivotal separation movement of the stringers about the detachable fastening members 11, 15 which may comprise a stud engaging a socket in pressbutton manner, or a T-headed stud engaging bayonet-wise in an elongated eyelet. The slider is retained on covering-member 12. To prevent gaping, a fastener member 5c, Fig. 7, may be provided on plate 10 to engage an aperture in the edge of member 12. A projecting rib 46 may be provided on the edge of member 12 to guide the slider over the terminal member 5b. In a modification, guiding of the slider may be effected by the rear ends of the fastener members 5d, Fig. 11, which are progressively shorter towards the end of the stringer, as shown.
