Abstract

513,399. Sliding-clasp fastenings. SPITZ, E. Feb. 16, 1939, No. 5121. Convention date, Nov. 9, 1938. [Class 44] Concealing strips for slidihg-clasp fasteners are transversely stiff and are attached to the stringer tapes by cementing on to tufts 5 of pile material lying between the fastener elements 4. The tufts 5 are provided by a strip 3 of pilematerial which is attached to the edge of the stringer tape 1 before the fastener elements are clamped thereon. The transverse stiffness in the concealing strip 6 may be obtained by impregnating the edge, by wire woven in the material, by cementing on a thin strip of an artificial plastics material, or, as shown, by cementing on a series of small plates 8 of an artificial plastics material.
