Abstract

Dilithium alkali citrates are obtained by treating a solution of citric acid in ethyl, methyl, or other aliphatic alcohol in which it is soluble and the double salts insoluble, first with lithium carbonate and boiling until carbon dioxide is removed, and then with caustic soda or caustic potash at the boiling temperature of the alcohol. The precipitated double salts, after drying at 100-105 DEG C., can be reduced to a fine powder.
