Abstract

334,355. Gates, A. St. J. Aug. 6, 1929. Heated roller apparatus.-In a drying apparatus of the type having two rollers rotating towards one another, the rollers are provided with sprockets driven by the same chain, which is itself driven by a further sprocket connected through reduction gearing to a suitable source of power. Two rollers, 1 and 2, are provided with sprockets 3 and 4, driven by a duplex compound chain 5 passing round a third sprocket 6 carried on a shaft 7 connected through reduction gearing 9 to fast and loose pulleys, 11 and 12 respectively, on a shaft 10. The chain can be adjusted by moving the reduction gear 9 bodily by means of screws 17<1>. The pulleys 11 and 12 by which the motive power is transmitted are arranged to slide on the shaft 10 so that their position remains unaltered when the shaft is moved to or from the evaporator.
