Abstract

485,674. Epicyclic toothed gearing. SHEEPBRIDGE COAL & IRON CO., Ltd., and DOWSWELL, N. A. April 6, 1937, No. 9420. [Class 80 (i)] A reduction gear comprises stepped planets 10, 11 supported in a driving-casing 9 so as to engage respectively a fixed sun-wheel 2 and a driven sun wheel 4. The shaft 2a of the wheel 2 is keyed to the fixed bearing 3, and the driven shaft 5, which is oppositely directed to the shaft 2a, is separately supported. The end 6 of the shaft 5 is supported in the wheel 2. In a modification, not shown, the shaft 2a is rotatably supported but carries a brake drum.
