Abstract

[Also in Division E2] Alternative power and manual operation of a door is provided by an epicyclic gear having sun gears a<SP>1</SP>, b fast with a prime mover driven shaft a and an output shaft B respectively, and a planet carrier A fast with a sprocket C engaging a chain which can be rotated by hand or held by a detent. The shaft a may be held by a brake when the prime mover is inoperative. (In a modification, Figs. 3 and 4, not shown, the planet carrier A is stationed by a brake drum D engaged by a shoe d pivoted on the planet carrier and spring urged into engagement. The sprocket C is freely mounted relative to the carrier and has a pin d<SP>1</SP> which engages the shoe d to release the brake for either direction of rotation of the sprocket.)
