Abstract
332,416. Plant Bros., Ltd., and Plant, F. W. July 30, 1929. Swing seats; swing beds; bedsteads convertible into seats; awnings.-A seat, couch, bed or the like comprises a seat member 10, suspended by chains or the like 18 from a supporting structure, and extensible legs 32 permanently attached to the seat 10 and adapted to render it rigid when required, as for instance when used as a bed. A hinged back 12 may be provided, angularly adjustable by means of racks 34 on hinged frames 15, and to which are permanently attached extensible legs 36 for holding the back in a horizontal position when lowered to form a double bed. The supporting structure may consist of end frames 21, 22, a ridge bar 20, and toggle members 26, and may carry arms 30, 31, of unequal length, to support an awning 27 of sufficient size to cover the device when in its extended form. The seat or bed is preferably so constructed that it can be unhooked from the supporting structure, to serve as a separate unit when so required.
