319,473. Cameron, G. J. M. Aug. 31, 1928. Settees convertible into beds.-A settee convertible into a bed consists of a rigid frame including a back 1 and side members 2, a seat structure composed of a lower portion 4 detachably secured to the sides 1 and an upper portion 3 hinged at 5 to the lower portion 4, a back rest 15 connected to the back 1 and a pillow rest 7 carried by arms 8 pivoted to the upper seat portion 3. The rest 7 is located between the seat portions 3 and 4, as shown in Fig. 2, when the article is being used as a settee, the back rest 15 bearing on the upper seat portion 3. When in use as a bed, the back rest 15 is raised to permit the upper seat portion 3 to be rotated through an angle of 180‹ in line with the lower portion 4 as shown in Fig. 3. In the construction shown the back rest 15 is supported at each end by links 17 pivoted to the back 1 and to a flanged strip 24 secured to the rest, the rest being held in the raised position shown in Fig. 3, by the engagement of the links 17 with the flange of the: strip 24 and by a spring 27.
