Abstract
351,801. Settee bedsteads. NORDBY, B., 6, Etterstadgaten, Oslo, Norway. Aug. 13, 1930, No. 24265. [Class 52 (ii).] In a divan or seat convertible into a bed, of the kind in which two single divans 1, 10 are hinged together at 13 and the lower divan 1 is raised as the upper one is swung out, the connecting mechanism comprises a vertical parallel-guide 18, 20 and supports 17, the latter being connected to the guide member 18 at 26 and pivoted to the divan 10 at a point 27 above the hinge 13 when the device is in closed condition. When applied to an upholstered arm-chair, Figs. 7 and 8, the supports 17 may be braced by members 37, and a strengthening bow 35 may be provided, reinforcing the framework laterally, and supporting the front rows of upholstery springs 39.
